EGVIAfor2Zero first General Assembly of 2026: Tracking achievements and preparing for the future

On 16th April, EGVIAfor2Zero held its first General Assembly meeting of 2026 and welcomed MOST, the Italian National Center for Sustainable Mobility, as a new member. By collaborating with universities, the national research council, and businesses, the organisation promotes innovation to advance the green and digital transition towards modern, sustainable and inclusive solutions.

Andrea Gentili, Deputy Head of Unit “Clean Transport Transitions” in DG RTD, provided all members with an update on ongoing activities: FP10 preparation, the newly launched EURIAS expert group, the Industrial Accelerator Act and European Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance (ECAVA).
EGVIAfor2Zero Chairman, Stephan Neugebauer, then gave an extensive update on the work completed since the last General Assembly meeting, focusing on the activities to work towards the preparation of a single automotive partnership in FP10:
  • The signature of the Memorandum of Understanding among EGVIAfor2Zero, CCAM Association, BEPA and the EC, last September.
  • The publication of the “Joint EU vision on R&I for the technological competitiveness of the EU automotive sector” in January 2026, which outlines the technological areas to be addressed in the areas of “clean mobility” and “digital and connected mobility”
  • The selection of more than 60 expert organisations to contribute to the work of the expert group on European Union Research and Innovation for the automotive sector (EURIAS)
In addition to the work carried out under the leadership of the EC, stakeholders active in EGVIAfor2Zero, ERTRAC, CCAM Association and EARPA have been working since September to identify key R&I bottlenecks and associated R&I needs in three key areas:
  • clean mobility
  • digital mobility
  • design, manufacturing, and production
The overview of this work, for the clean mobility pillar, was presented to EGVIAfor2Zero members and will be reused for all activities to be carried out in 2026, towards the creation of a new automotive partnership.
After lunch, the general assembly reviewed the 2026 budget and upcoming activities, including an update on the successful RTR 2026 conference and an overview of activities relevant for the 2Zero community in the upcoming TRA Conference, organised in Budapest in May.
Several additional internal activities were presented and discussed, including the Biennial Full Report and Biennial Monitoring Report.
The final results of the LeMesurier project were presented to all members by Lucie Beaumel, and the recently published “Summary of LeMesurier results”, including the fact sheets analysing the partnership’s progress across its 40+ Key Performance Indicators, was distributed to participants. With a proper monitoring and impact assessment framework in place, the 2Zero partnership will be able to demonstrate its short, mid and long-term impacts.
