2Zero SRG latest meeting in Barcelona, together with the CCAM SRG
Last 13th and 14th September, the 2Zero SRG members met aside from the FISITA World Congress, in Barcelona, following a kind invitation from the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. For the first time, this meeting included a joint session with the CCAM SRG.
The 2Zero session started on the 13th with welcome words from the newly elected chairwoman of the SRG, Eleonora Riva Sanseverino, and the EGVIAfor2Zero chairman, Stephan Neugebauer, and continued with insights about the local developments with presentations from Barbara Pons on the strategies implemented for more sustainable mobility in Barcelona, including how parking and charging strategies could better interact in the future; the outcomes of the EGVI-funded project NEMO were also briefly presented. Ana Blanco from the Spanish Road Authority, General Directorate for Traffic (DGT), Ministry of Interior, presented the Urban Vehicle Access Rights and some specific exemptions defined at the local level that can create some challenges for the users.
The European Commission made three presentations on the latest policy developments:
- the EAFO (European Alternative Fuels Observatory),
- the countEmissions EU initiative,
- the update of the weight and dimensions directives.
The 2Zero session ended with an update on the latest partnership activities: the finalisation of the EGVI impact assessment and the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda review. The remaining day continued with on-site visits to the premises of the automotive supplier FICOSA and the EV charging station producer CIRCONTROL, together with the CCAM group.
The joint CCAM and 2Zero session on the 14th September was moderated by a powerful duo: Eleonora Riva Sanseverino, Chairwoman of the 2Zero SRG, and Tereza Čížková, Chairwoman of the CCAM SRG.
Following the keynotes from the Secretary General for Innovation at the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, Teresa Riesgo, and the Secretary General for Infrastructures at the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Xavier Flores, various presentations were made related to Connected and Electric Vehicle development in Spain and the automotive-related activities in the Key Digital Technologies (KDT) partnership. A fruitful discussion was organised with members of both groups in the last round of the session to exchange views on the central issues for deploying R&D&I solutions initiated in partnerships.
