Krakow Introduces metaCCAZE cargo bikes as part of future urban transshipment hub

As part of the Horizon Europe-funded metaCCAZE project, the city of Kraków has launched a new fleet of cargo bikes, marking a key milestone in developing sustainable urban logistics. This pilot initiative supports the city’s plan to establish a transshipment hub in the city centre, helping to reduce congestion and lower emissions from last-mile delivery traffic.

The newly introduced electric cargo bikes will be used to transport goods from larger delivery vehicles at the edge of the city to their final destinations within the urban core. By shifting last-mile logistics to cleaner, more space-efficient modes, the initiative aims to improve air quality, reduce noise, and enhance quality of life for city residents.

This pilot will feed into the broader metaCCAZE project goals, which focus on accelerating the adoption of climate-neutral mobility systems through integrated, scalable solutions. Kraków’s implementation will serve as a real-world testbed for innovative logistics models that can be replicated across European cities.
