EGVIAfor2Zero held its General Assembly meeting and internal brokerage event in Leuven
On day 1 (20.11.2024), EGVIAfor2Zero held its last General Assembly of 2024 in the picturesque town of Leuven.
As with every General Assembly, the Association welcomed new members:
- Vedecom (Research center)
- Institute for Automotive Engineering (IFS) – University of Stuttgart (University)
- Cracow University of Technology (University)
- Flexible Power Systems (Smart systems)
Bringing the total number of members to EGVIAfor2Zero to 120 members. Welcome on board to the newcomers!
The General Assembly also appointed a new co-leader for Pillar 4 “LCA approaches and circular economy aspects for sustainable and innovative road mobility solutions“: Gladys Moreac-Njeim from Renault will take over this responsibility until the next election, scheduled for next spring.
Another significant change was Frank Seyfried (Volkswagen) ‘s retirement. Frank has made invaluable contributions to our community. Oliver Schauerte (Volkswagen) will replace him as Delegate to the Partnership Board.
Andrea Gentili from the European Commission provided an update on the latest activities from the European Commission and relevant reports recently published by expert groups: Letta report, Draghi report and Heitor report. These 3 reports could impact the shape and boundaries of automotive research in FP10 and the next MFF. Guido Sacchetto presented some updates on the Cooperation Working Arrangment with Piemonte region; more will come in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
Benedetta Trignani provided members with a detailed presentation on the partnership’s latest reporting activities, including the publication of the biennial Monitoring Report. In it, 2Zero is mentioned for its contributions to energy efficiency and competitiveness in transport, supporting EU strategic autonomy.
The LeMesurier project, presented by Simon Edwards, also strongly supports the monitoring and reporting of 2Zero projects. Several 2Zero-funded projects and EGVIAfor2Zero members have already contributed to the questionnaire launched by the projects to better measure how we are delivering towards our KPIs.
Simon was followed up by Lucie Beaumel, who provided an overview of
• the successful visit of the EGVIAfor2Zero board to the Slovakian stakeholders
• the RTR 2025 Conference organisation.
Wolfgang Dettmann, Thilo Bein, and Ian Faye updated the audience on the ongoing activities and coordination with other Partnerships: Chips-JU, Metrology partnership, and Clean Hydrogen.
The day finished with a technical visit, organised by KU Leuven, in collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software, which presented a range of cutting-edge demonstrations that contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient vehicle technologies. Researchers reported on the progress of several ongoing European Green Vehicle projects. Lab setups and demonstrations include innovations in onboard battery chargers, electromotor circular economy models, automated disassembly of batteries, cooperative control systems, and in the design, optimisation, monitoring, and RUL prognostics of automotive drivetrains and their critical components, along with low-frequency/low-volume/low-cost/low-weight acoustic treatments and other NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness) technology developments.
The second day (20.11.2024) was entirely dedicated to our internal brokerage event, where we discussed the upcoming 2025 topics and potential opportunities for our members to be involved in:
HORIZON-CL5-2025-01-D5-01: Efficient wireless stationary bidirectional charging solutions for road LDV
HORIZON-CL5-2025-01-D5-02: Cybersecure and resilient road e-mobility ecosystem
HORIZON-CL5-2025-01-D5-03: Safe post-crash management of road LD BEV
HORIZON-CL5-2025-01-D5-04: Extended lifetime of road Battery Electric Vehicles
HORIZON-CL5-2025-01-D5-05: Road BEV optimised user-centric solutions for energy efficiency design and consistent range throughout weather conditions
HORIZON-CL5-2025-01-D5-06: Strategies, tools and concepts for optimised road BEV long-haul logistics use cases
A day rich in networking, exchange, and technical discussions!
