Virtual European Conference on Batteries

The storage of electrical energy is a key technology for the transformation towards a world powered by renewable energy. Batteries are already indispensable in electric vehicles, industrial and consumer goods and in power grids, and their economic importance will continue to grow.

Within the framework of the German EU Council Presidency, the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy is organising the “European Conference on Batteries” from 24th to 27th November 2020. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the event will be held in a purely virtual environment. German, European and international players from industry, research and politics will meet online to exchange information on current and future developments in the field of batteries, to network and to advance cross-border cooperation. In this way, we are demonstrating that even in times of pandemics we are guided by common visions for the future of Europe.

The online event is linked to the launch of the two “Important Projects of Common European Interest” (IPCEIs) along the battery value chain. A special focus will also be placed on the topics of sustainability, qualification and innovation. You can expect an interesting programme with a great variety of current and cutting edge topics in the field of batteries, with high-level keynote speeches by the Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Mr. Peter Altmaier, the Nobel Prize laureate Mr. Michael Stanley Whittingham and other speakers from European and global politics, industry and science. In addition, panel discussions and specialist forums will allow in-depth discussions and an exchange of experience with experts from the European battery ecosystem.

The conference language is English. All further information on the programme, the experts, participation and registration can be found here: battery-conference.eu.

Participation in the virtual conference is free and open to all interested parties. Only registered participants can actively participate, i.e. take part in Q&A sessions, expert discussions and voting. Registration is possible under the following link: https://battery-conference.eu/registration

The livestream will be done via battery-conference.eu
