NEXTETRUCK & ESCALATE joint event on zero-emission freight

The NextETRUCK and ESCALATE projects are hosting a joint event on zero-emission freight on 28 April from 9-13:15 in meeting room 3B/22, as part of the ITS Europe Congress 2026 in Istanbul. Towards the end of the event, the participants will have the chance to visit their pilot truck from Ford Otosan – a pilot which operates on various routes connecting two Ford Otosan factories in the peri-urban areas of Istanbul.

Research and development of zero-emission freight vehicles (zHGVs) across all vehicle sizes is a cornerstone of reducing road transport emissions on medium- and long-haul routes. However, the large-scale deployment of zHGVs faces several challenges, including cost considerations, fast-charging and refuelling infrastructure, digital charging management solutions, and vehicle performance across diverse operational conditions and climate zones.
