The first deliverable of our September MoU is available: download the “Joint EU Vision on R&I for the Technological Competitiveness of the EU Automotive Sector”
The European automotive sector is at a critical turning point. It faces rapid technological changes, which require high investments, while facing an increasingly fierce competition. Shifting the gear is essential for the sector to overcome these challenges, secure Europe’s manufacturing capacities and competitiveness, and bring value creation back to Europe.
Following the publication of the Automotive Action Plan, in 2025, and the signature of the MoU in September, EGVIAfor2Zero is proud to publish the joint vision developed together with the European Commission, the CCAM Association, BEPA, EUCAR and CLEPA, and the involvement of a large community of experts.
Today’s document will pave the way for a successful green and digital transition, driven by electrification, software-defined architectures and artificial intelligence (AI).
It outlines major trajectories to support the European automotive sector, and sets a clear direction: the automotive sector’s R&I policy and investments all over Europe must be guided by their impact on the economy, environment, and society to ensure leadership across all aspects of the mobility ecosystem.
While staying at the forefront of technological developments, safeguarding jobs, driving growth, and protecting the environment, Europe should secure its sovereignty in key technologies, accelerate industrial scale-up, and pursue a coordinated public–private investment strategy, while delivering zero-emission, digital, and safe mobility.
