Last chance to apply for an EGVI topic in Horizon 2020
On 2nd July the European Commission announced its last and biggest annual share of €11 billion of the EU research and innovation funding programme Horizon 2020. In this final year the Commission will focus on fewer and crucial topics such as climate change, clean energy, plastics, cybersecurity and the digital economy, supporting further the Commission’s political priorities.
Four topics are opened under the Green Vehicles partnership with a total budget of € 55 million:
- Advanced light materials and their production processes for automotive applications
- Reducing the environmental impact of hybrid light duty vehicles
- Next generation electrified vehicles for urban and suburban us
- Setting up a common European research and innovation strategy for the future of road transport

The European Commission will organise an open information day as well as a transport NCP brokerage session on 7th October in Brussels. Register to make sure to get all information to submit a successful proposal!
A key novelty is the launch of the pilot phase of the European Innovation Council, a one-stop-shop for innovation funding aimed to turn science into new business and accelerate the scale-up of companies, running in its pilot phase and benefiting from a budget of €1.2 billion in 2020.
The budget plan will also be geared towards preparing the way for Horizon Europe, the next framework programme (2021-2027) for research and innovation.
