Workshop on AI in Automotive: applications, opportunities and barriers

Organised by the European Commission, the online workshop “AI in Automotive: applications, opportunities and barriers” addresses the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the automotive sector. This event will focus on the applications, opportunities, and barriers related to integrating AI, particularly generative AI (GenAI), within this industry.

The online workshop will take place on 11 April from 10:30 to 16:00.

Building upon the Automotive Action plan and the announcement of a Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance, the workshop will explore how AI drives innovation in areas such as autonomous vehicles, smart traffic management or improved automotive engineering. It will also delve into Europe’s challenges and opportunities to stay competitive within the global AI landscape.

The event will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, startups, associations and researchers to identify key use cases, discuss challenges such as connectivity, data, and computing resources, and explore ways to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies in automotive. Insights from the event will help shape future EU policies in research, innovation, and AI deployment.

The workshop will consist of two main parts:

  • Leading use cases, their potential impact, and current challenges (Morning)
  • Key enables to accelerate AI innovation in automotive: Regulation, data, computing and connectivity (Afternoon)
